Congress is misleading the public by making false allegations: Sarang

Madhya Pradesh government minister Vishwas Sarang on Tuesday termed the allegations raised by the Congress on the election process as baseless during a press conference at the BJP state office.

He said that the Congress is raising objections on the election results after 20 months, while the election law is clear that objections on the results can be raised within 45 days and questions on the voter list can be raised only 10 days before the polling. Mr. Sarang questioned that if the Congress suspected irregularities in the voter list, then why did they not complain to the Election Commission on time. Congress is misleading the country without data and facts. He accused the Congress leaders of insulting constitutional institutions and said that there are legal provisions for every objection related to the election. He said that the public has given a majority to the BJP on 163 seats in the state and even after removing the alleged 27 disputed seats of the Congress, the BJP still has enough seats left to form the government. He also accused the Congress of vote theft politics, saying that the first person accused of vote theft in the country was Jawaharlal Nehru and Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar was also defeated in the election through conspiracy. Mr. Sarang also said that there are clear provisions in the Constitution and the Representation of the People Act to resolve election disputes, so the Congress should have resorted to the courts. He termed this exercise of the Congress as face saving after the defeat in the Bihar Assembly elections. The Minister said that the Election Commission accepts objections to the voter list till 10 days before the polling, but the Congress did not give any complaint. He accused the Congress of misleading the public by making false allegations and said that the BJP is committed to maintaining the constitutional system.
