- October 25, 2025
State Cooperative Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang urged the government to increase seed production based on actual demand from farmers. There is a high demand for generic seeds and brands, and their production and supply should be prioritized. Sarang was speaking with officials during the Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Seed Producers and Marketing Federation Limited's board meeting at the Ministry. During the meeting, he discussed in detail the action plan prepared by the Federation for the year 2025-26. The Minister said that the MP Cheeta brand should be promoted at the state and national level with a strong marketing strategy to establish it as a quality brand among farmers. He said that while focusing on identified crops and seeds, concrete steps should also be taken to promote horticultural crops. The meeting also emphasized that the Seed Federation has started producing high-quality hybrid seeds to increase farmers' productivity and profitability. These seeds will provide better yields, disease resistance, and a quality crop. Farmers and technical staff are being trained to improve seed production and quality. The Minister said that special attention should be paid to research and development, and manpower should be increased as needed. He also said that a one-day seminar should be organized on seed production and quality improvement, inviting universities, agricultural science centers, research institutes, and agricultural experts. This will add new dimensions to seed quality improvement. Agriculture Production Commissioner Ashok Varnwal, Principal Secretary Cooperation DP Ahuja, Agriculture Secretary Nishant Warvade, Commissioner Cooperation Manoj Pushp, Managing Director (Apex Bank) Manoj Gupta, along with senior officials from the Cooperative Department and members of the Federation's Board of Directors were present.
