Regional offices and nodal officers will be appointed in districts where there are no banks: Sarang
- August 16, 2025
Cooperation Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang on Monday, in response to a question by MLA Ramniwas Shah in the state assembly, said that regional offices will be started in those districts where there are no district cooperative banks. Sarang said in his reply that the cooperative policy at the national level also expects that there should be at least one cooperative bank in every district. Through this, we will be able to open regional offices where there are no district cooperative banks and appoint nodal officers. This will solve the problem of the entire state. Minister Sarang said that out of the 20 branches of District Cooperative Central Bank Limited Sidhi in Singrauli district, 9 branches are functioning and banking facilities are being provided to the district. Currently, there is no proposal under consideration to establish a separate district cooperative bank in Singrauli district. He said that the state government does not have direct authority to open new banks. This is a matter related to NABARD and Reserve Bank. It is true that there are 55 districts in Madhya Pradesh and 38 Central Cooperative Banks, but the reason for this is that when we open a new bank, its viability and the criteria on which the bank is opened are fully considered. He said that there are 17 districts which are associated with some bank or the other and the direct reason for this is the financial condition of the banks there. This is not only in Madhya Pradesh, if we look at the data of the country, then this is the situation in the entire country. The situation is the same in the states where the cooperative movement is very strong. In response to a question by MLA Neena Vikram Verma, Sarang said that the transfer policy issued by the state government in June 2025 for the transfer of government officers / employees is also applicable to the cooperative department. In response to the supplementary question of MLA Neena Vikram Verma, Minister Sarang said that there is a district cooperative bank, there is a society below the bank, both of them are autonomous. Their employer officer is the board of both of them. Therefore, the state government does not have the right to transfer. The transfer of bank employees will be done by the bank's board or the CO of the bank and similarly, if it is a matter of any employee of a society, then the manager there will do it.
